The Real Onigokko

Note: This was originally posted on blogger, but I have since decided to delete the account. In order to preserve the contents, I am posting this here.

I've been waiting to see this movie for awhile, since I first found out about it in 2008 :D I was so excited to watch it that I forgot Daito Shunsuke was in this, and then when I saw him, I immediately fell in love again:)

At first, I learned the term 'onigokko' from JE's Ya-Ya-Yah show, where our idols like Koyama, Shige, Massu, Tegoshi, Yabu, Hikaru, Taiyou, Shoon, Yuto, and occasionally Inoo would be chased around by these oni's (demons), and it's just a big game of hide-n-seek-tag :)

Watching it was super fun, and I thought this movie was gonna be like this, which it was in a way, but there was more behind it.

Overall, it was a fun watch, but I was already emotionally invested even before it began, so that played a factor. On a more objective level, I feel like the reveal was rather abrupt and I didn't really like it. In fact, having the explanations was not as appealing as not knowing why things were happening, but it was also good to know in the long run. The old guy creeped me out and there was something I didn't quite understand, but other than that, it's definitely a great film for its budget (from what I hear it was low).

The film quality and direction was actually quite well done. Scenes were done in aesthetically pleasing ways, with good humor yet enough darkness, and the cgi was awesome:)

If you've been looking to watch it forever and can't seem to find the links, here it is:) if it keeps directing you to another site, message me, and I'll give you the links OR just stop the site while it's loading and scroll down.

I spent a good few hours trying to find it myself, so now I'm sharing the love:D

Here's the short version of what happened, without giving anything major away:
In one reality, Sato Tsubasa and Sato Yo don't get along. Tsubasa is known for running really fast and having great luck while being chased whereas Yo is doing most of that chasing. One day, Tsubasa finds himself in another reality (but he doesn't know it happened at the time, because he just thinks he's just disappeared just in time to miss a pummeling from Yo and gang). In this 'new' reality, the guys who used to be his best friends are gay.

This was my first time seeing Miura Ryosuke, and he's really pretty in real life too xD

Anyways, in this new world is where we get to see the real chase. Here is what an 'oni' or demon looks like:

Later we find out that they are criminals behind masks and they get rewarded (lessened time in jail) for catching a certain amount of people per days that the 'game' is played.
When they catch someone with the surname Sato, they are identified using technology in their masks, and then are most probably executed on the spot (very gruesomely).

Turns out that the new King(dictator) has the surname Sato and doesn't want anyone else sharing that name (how ridiculous, but also likely due to the power-hungry position he's in). Also, when one person dies in this reality, the alternate counterpart from Tsubasa's reality also dies.

So, Tsubasa coincidentally bumps into Yo and they both start running, thinking that it's still his own world. Then Yo becomes a guide in that world when Tsubasa realizes that he's no longer in Kansas XD Later, they meet Tsubasa's sister who, in his 'own' world, is in a mental hospital.

She's super cute:) I've always liked the actress from "Taiyou to Umi no Kyoushitsu" and "Mei-chan no Shitsuji," but she's awesome in this too:)

There is A LOT to say about this movie and I don't want to summarize it all, because it's just fun to watch to find out the twists for yourself;)
That, and I don't know where to begin ^^
Have some pretties? ;)

That's Tsubasa when confronting the King. He looks very serious, but he's just really protective of his sister:)

Daito Shunsuke has not so secretly stolen my heart:D The first cap is him in Tsubasa's reality. One night, when Tsubasa takes the time to accept the fact that he's no longer where he thinks he is, he talks to Yo and realizes that he's not a bad person. He figures if this Yo isn't bad, then the one back home is just the same too...just different circumstances changes people. Deep down, they were still best friends (from childhood).

This is what he looks like in the final reality we see him in. Apparently, there are many parallel universes, each who happen to have a 'chasing' aspect.

It's an interesting concept, how we die in this reality because our counterparts somewhere in space and time died in theirs. So, it must really be a miracle or luck to have survived all realities and lived to a certain age, don't you think? I mean, death could happen anytime; we won't know, so if this concept of realities is true, it's a miracle we survived all of them together:P

omg, I probably sound so incoherent right now, so that's why you need to watch the film :P
I apologize for my many grammatical errors, but I still definitely recommend this:D
ETA: Miura Shohei is in Onigokko 2 ;)
