Drama List Summer 2011

Recently, I commented on Twitter about how I should watch all 13 currently airing dramas that I'm interested in, so that at the end, I will have finished 13 dramas at one time. You see, I am basically obsessed with numbers, stats in particular. Like, how many dramas I've watched this year, how many times did I play this song in a week, how many words did I write this month, etc? I'm attempting to break my record of 33 dramas from last year, and since I'm actually free this summer, I think I can do it.
Also, I've been working on my ridiculously massive dramalist, which will chronicle my time in dramaland since 2008. Of course, it is very lacking in reviews, but that can't be helped; I am a silent watcher most times xD

Hana Kimi
Ep.4 was technically Kayashima's episode, though it had main Nakatsu elements too. I loved the idea that if you hide your true self, nobody else is going to get to see you, and it would be a waste. I think they layered it really well with Mizuki, Kayashima, and Nakatsu's dilemmas.
OMG, that scene between Nakatsu and Umeda! lol the banter was great and it just cements the fact that I adore Shohei in this role. He's doing a wonderful job conveying the complexity of the character; it's not just about protecting his man pride or getting the girl, it's seriously about the emotions and doing what feels right.
I loved that the guys had an unintentional pillow fight and then Sano being protective of Muzuki as they all slept in the same room. Sano is more vigilant about Mizuki being a girl than she does herself xD
Ep. 5 -So, OMG, I was completely shocked they ended with that scene. But damn, does it have me on the edge of my seat and now I'm counting down the hours till the 6th RAW is uploaded. I know it's acting, but I have a feeling that the actor playing Makita is going to get a lot of death threats from guy fans for 'hurting' Maeda.
Overall, this was a semi-lackluster episode, though it had some moments. We got to see Nanba family's business. It was also hilarious how the mom pushes Nakao away the same way Minami does xD
We also witnessed Nakatsu being awesome in his crushing on Mizuki.
This show actually makes me wanna ship Nakatsu/Mizuki ♥

This show is something if it has gotten me to want to read the manga. Now, for some reason I can't explain, I'm just not interested in manga or anime. Perhaps it's the medium I don't like, because it's certainly not the stories. Anyways, once I wiki-ed and found out there is practically shipping material between all characters and Haruhi, I didn't want to miss any of it and started reading the manga. DUDE, there's potentially a scene (possibly in the next episode) where Kyoya throws Haruhi onto the bed and 'pretends' to seduce her to teach her a lesson on the dangers of being a woman among guys. Imagining Daito seducing anyone is just *__*
Still loving the show for all its compacted wackiness. Haruhi is a really pretty lady :)
Don Quixote
So, this stars Matsuda Shota who plays a child welfare social worker at a counseling center. Originally, his character is a by-the-book kind of guy, not really intuitive or observant about his client's situation. And then on the other end of the spectrum is a yakuza boss who's in line to succeed the entire business. He's really crass with balls of steel and all that good stuff. Somehow, the characters end up at the same apartment complex, only a floor apart. They push the doorbells to their respective client's home at the same time and BAM! Some mysterious lightning tears the sky apart and their bodies have switched XD
And so begins a tale of two personalities who don't go well with their current professions and they have to deal with it together. Hilarity ensues.
I'm watching it because I want to see what kind of counseling the Japanese media showcase, while at the same time, wondering how much of it is an accurate representation of how they view the field in Japan. Not only that, but I miss seeing Matsuda Shota act, and he does really well with gruff characters like these ^^
Hi wa Mata Noboru
Among its young cast members are Miura Haruma, Ikematsu Sosuke, Aiba Hiroki, and Tomiura Satoshi. It's a police drama about young recruits learning the job. The main instructor has his own history; his wife ran off with a criminal and he's still waiting to catch the guy. Eh, it's not entirely compelling, but I wanna know what happens.
Heartstrings/You've Fallen For Me
I wanted Gi Young and Gyu Won to have a side storyline, but I'll take the semi-triangle between her, Lee Shin, and the Director xD
I'm only watching this because of Park Shin Hye and Yong Hwa's chemistry, plus I wanted to see the UST from You're Beautiful come to fruition. I don't know, I kinda like the UST more than the OTP, even if they are really sweet together.
It's not a good drama if you're watching it for the plot, lol, but it's got some really great vocalists ;)
Considering:
Myung Wol The Spy and Protect the Boss
I have been following dramabeans, so they've roped me in with their screencaps xD
Scent of a Woman
I saw some caps from Tumblr. Looks hot xD
Arakawa Under the Bridge
I've heard it's weirdness in a good way? Considering it for Oguri Shun and Shirota Yuu xD
Conan
I wanna check this out for Junpei, and now that Tori's playing Heiji. I suppose I'd also like to see more of Kutsuna Shiori.
Will watch -just a matter of time:
Ikemen, Desu ne
I've heard from You're Beautiful fans that this is a very good, perhaps even better, version. I've seen gifs from it and it looks cute :)
Plus, I've fallen in love with the Japanese version of "Without Words."
Soredemo, Ikiteyuku
People have been raving about it, and I really wouldn't pass up an Eita drama (except for SnN, because it wasn't compelling to me).
IS
Breaking gender stereotypes, the questioning of gender and sex, + Gouriki Ayame from Taisetsu na... = ✔
Zenkai Girl
Nishikido Ryo, 'nuff said.
Next up, I'm thinking up an entry about online identity development compared to the minority identity development taken from my textbook.
Or just random things I've been flailing about to no one in particular.
Or, maybe I should really work on this 'homework' I have that's due in two weeks instead xD
