Catching up with the Times
May. 13th, 2017 08:30 pmIt's almost halfway through 2017 and I generally get reflective around this time, because graduation, but today, my main reason for posting is three-fold.
1) Hi -I've changed my username yet again xD When I started on this platform, I was known as everlasting_dream. On LJ, I was dark3princess --> lastingdreams8 (lastingdream on other platforms where that wasn't taken) and owaranai_natsu was my fanfic LJ page. For some reason, on the night that I decided I would pay for the rename token, I decided I was going to be owaranai_natsu here. I think this is in part that my email is such and "endless summer" is as equally me as "lastingdreams" is. Plus, it's one way of deviating from LJ, which I don't think I'll return to due to the recent changes in their ownership and policies.
Confusingly (or not), I did make my fanfic page here lastingdreams, which matches my AOA name. Even more confusing is my fanfic.net name is still owaranai.natsu, but I don't use that platform anymore. So whatever. I'm all of those names -it's still me ;)
2) I've been going through my old posts and not only because of the importing from LJ to DW, but also because of the change in imageshack's services, most of my posts are now littered with X's where the images were :( They emailed me at the end of last year warning me that they'd no longer host non-paying users' images, but I didn't pay too much attention to that email until it was too late xD I have some images saved and some others hosted on Photobucket, but it's going to be a huge undertaking/pain if I ever decide to be OCD and reupload everything and find its place, if I even have those original images to begin with. A lot of them were screen captures of dramas and stuff, so it's not overly important, but still irks me greatly. I big chunk of my posts were drama/movie related, so now it's just text and without photo-context, it's kind of hard to understand. I don't imagine many new friends will browse through old posts, but I'm the type of person who would, so bleh :(
The other thing that's frustrating is that some of my Youtube links are all weird. Some are deleted, of course, but some links embedded multiple times throughout entries. For example, I uploaded a video from Dragon*con and it popped up on several posts that had Youtube videos, but was not the original Youtube video I had embeded. I don't know -there's a lot of cleaning up that I'd want to do. It's 11 years of posts though...do I want to do that? lol xD
3) I've finally caught the EXO bug. I mean, I liked their debut song "What is Love" and had two of their other songs on my iPod (Angel and Miracles in December), but didn't bother to know each of their names and such until now. I don't know how this ended up on my feed, but I really enjoy dance practice videos and the lighting caught my attention. Then the first beats started and something about Baekhyun's hair as it lifted off his head when he danced hooked me. Don't ask my why that of all things, but I'm trying to catch up on their activities. I don't know any of their songs within albums, but I know most of their title songs.
I've always enjoyed D.O.'s acting, but his voice is also excellent. Thus my new icon! I also really like Chanyeol, Suho, and Chen.

- I just want to see the characters in these beloved movies/shows back in action :D
- I love insight into characters, expounding on a minor detail that ends up being a main reason why the character acts the way they do.
- If we're talking about science fiction, I like to see scientific stuff/jargon thrown in.
- Existential angst and psychology are always good things, though perhaps lighter on the angst if possible ^^
- I am a shipper at heart, so any cute-romantic interactions you can throw in between characters that are compatible will be well-received :)

More Than They Seem
I wrote for an entirely new fandom, Running Man, which I had no idea what I was doing, but it turned out well for my Yuletide recipient ^^
So overall I wrote 12,108 words this year, averaging 1,009 words a month, but mostly it was that one challenge fic that boosted my numbers ^^ My goal for 2014 is that I'll continue to average 1,000 words/month and actually write each month xD
And because I'm silly: Candy Crush level/Odus Version: 421/33

My apologies for getting your cards out late, but they will be coming to you soon (some sooner than others xD).
School is on break, but I've also been working part-time, so I've had to endure the holiday madness. Today was my first day off since last Sunday, woo! lol
I don't have any plans for Christmas (mom is working), and I'm so happy just to be at home not having to think about what time it is because I have all day to myself :)
The two days after that, I'll be handling returns at work...yay? xD
In any case -I get Yuletide goodies tomorrow, so in anticipation of that, I'll share with you recs from last year's pick :)

Drama Watch Along # (I've lost count)

It is open to everyone, so feel free to spread the news on your flists! If this is your first time, this is how it usually runs:
1. Everyone joins in choosing a drama. This can be done in comments/email/PM.
2. Once nominations are in, we notify participants of the nominated dramas by email after a couple days. Participants will then have a chance to veto a certain number of dramas that they absolutely refuse to watch. Finally, participants will vote on which of the remaining dramas they most want to watch, and the one with the highest rating will be our DWA selection.
3. Then we watch specified number of episodes (probably 2-3, depending on the length) every week, and the host will post on Sundays to get a discussion going between all participants in the comments.
You can join in the discussion at your leisure or just watch without commenting. It is recommended that you track those posts so you won't miss out on new comments ;)

Sep. 1st, 2013 07:30 pmNEWS has been a huge source of happiness and encouragement for me, whether it was 6 years ago when I first discovered them, or 5 years ago when I started a new journey, or just this past summer when I was feeling down about my job situation. NEWS lyrics helped me to calm down and keep trekking through. So this is a post kind of for me to put it all out there, lyrics that really speak to me when I need a little push. This is also in celebration of their anniversary. NEWS, thank you for existing, fighting for it, and bringing the joy back to us ♥

Originally written on May 26th when I was particularly bored and lazy from Malaysia's heat and remembered that I had a concert I could watch ^^ I suppose I can call this date my re-entry into NEWS fandom, because it rekindled my love for them. It also made Chankapana that much sweeter for me, and I could truly appreciate and understood the meaning of that first single back as four ♥

TV Couples March Madness 2013
lol I thought it was funny that Peter and Olivia beat out Stefan and Elena for the first round. Perhaps it speaks to the fact that the current Stefan/Elena ship has kind of sailed away and has no intention of coming back just yet. (Don't get me started on what they're doing with the characters this season *sigh*). But then I thought it was unfair to pit Peter/Olivia against Dean/Castiel, because I have a strong feeling that any pairing going up against them would lose xD In fact, I checked back this week and Dean/Castiel did win and are now pitted against Brittany and Santana (Glee), who also stand no chance against the bromance xD
The 3rd round determines who will go into select 'conferences,' which I guess is in the ranks of its previous successors. Apparently there is a "Ross & Rachel" and "Pacey and Joey" conference. Oh man, it would've been so perfect if Peter/Olivia had made it to that side xD
I wonder who's going to win this thing? If you had to bet, who would it be? ;)
( Running Man ) I found this quote amusing: "pretty sure the people of tumblr take their ships more seriously than the Navy" xD

Well then, that was quite the eventful ending :D I'm really glad I gave this drama a chance, and I think I won't shy away from Kyoko's dramas as much next time. I can definitely say that this was a solid drama. I would still rate it a 3, average, but it generated good discussion and I enjoyed that immensely! Until the next time~ ♥

Flower Boy Next Door
Feb. 18th, 2013 01:29 pmI'm currently watching Flower Boy Next Door and it's one of those dramas where I'd like to DWA it, because it's bringing up interesting questions about shutting the world out after being hurt, and how do you show someone you love them? By changing them for (what you think is) the better, or loving them the way they are and potentially missing out on growth.
I'm personally conflicted about it, because while I think it's important to love someone for who they are, I also believe that you should challenge each other to become better people.

Time Wasters

However, a portion of my time is looking at new, random, unrelated things that just pop up under my feeds/subscriptions. Here's a post of a couple of these things that I've kept over the year(s) :)
The Ultimate Nap -There's a clock (nap wheel), and you move the dial to the time you wake up, and it'll show you when is the best time for a nap ;)
FM 100 Hue Test -After awhile, they all look the same shade xD
Jung's Personality Test: MBTI -It's the shortened version (48Q's) of the longer assessment and it's still pretty accurate. I have taken both and gotten the same result: ISFJ :Dv I'd be curious to know some of your results :)

I hope everyone's Holiday has been lovely, whether it's with family or just spending quality time with yourself (because we need that sometimes) ;)
I have been trying to stay off my feet since working 34+ hours in retail during the mad rush for last minute gifts, but things have gone rather smoothly.
