owaranai_natsuOriginally written on May 26th when I was particularly bored and lazy from Malaysia's heat and remembered that I had a concert I could watch ^^ I suppose I can call this date my re-entry into NEWS fandom, because it rekindled my love for them. It also made Chankapana that much sweeter for me, and I could truly appreciate and understood the meaning of that first single back as four ♥
I honestly didn’t like Chankapana until I watched it that day, definitely had to warm up to it, but now it’s stuck in my head, lol. I like how NEWS can make it sound cute and loving even when it’s about randomly meeting someone on the night bus >.> lol At the same time, I love how they can refer to the audience and us as fans as ‘beloveds,' which of course, is the whole point of the song. We've been waiting for you!
When they first panned to Koyama looking over at Massu, I couldn’t help but think, awww, he’s taking a moment to silently say to the members, “Look, we’re back!” ♥
Shige was my favorite at one point (sorry, Koyama's taken that spot permanently) and this concert has reaffirmed my love for him. He looks and sounds particularly good this time :D And now that Koyama and Shige have more lines to cover, I imagine they had to do more vocal training. They do sound much better and have more stamina than before. Now, this might also be post-editing and good lip-syncing, but overall, they all did very well ♥

I really love all the outfits. I think Massu’s smart wearing really loose/flowy capris (at first, I thought it was a kilt xD), since it’s so hot.

Aww, look at Kei-chan ducking at the water being sprayed xD He’s so cute when he’s spazzing. Not that he’s even spazzing that much, but it’s just really good to see his ‘shoujiki’ in-the-moment adorableness ^^ Mizu sugoi yo! In that cute high pitched voice that he has, tehhe. (Can you tell I’m biased?) ;)

The shuttle thingies they were wearing were cute. I loved when the bouncy balls were flying down the stairs and presumably went into the audience and Koyama went “gomen ne~” And then when he called for Shige to hurry on over, he called him “sensei” ^^ cute!
I love how when Massu’s being silly, he actually has a serious face on.
I had never actually listened to "Let's Go to the Planets" before, but now I actually really like it! I'm kinda bummed out that I have to listen to the old version, but I know if I really wanted it, I could get a rip of this version. I'm sure I've said it before, but NEWS has a lot of space-themed songs, which adds one more reason to love them ;)
Also, I'm just now experiencing the transition and adjustment from 6!nin to 4!nin NEWS (I'm late, probably had to go through a mourning period xD). I mean, I've been listening to their stuff and hearing Yamapi and Ryo's voice, but there are some songs that I've enjoyed more from this concert and I'm disappointed when I realize that I don't have access to those versions. I don't think I could have imagined NEWS songs without Yamapi or Ryo a few years ago, let alone voluntarily wanting their voices off, so it's kind of bittersweet, but enough of that! xD

But ok, my first thought was...I'm surprised Massu didn't freak out about getting Shige's sweat on him, because ya know, he's very clean xD But they're all sweating, so it's ok. I don't know, these are the kinds of things that pop into my head sometimes, lol. But yes, I know in the moment, it's cute. Also, it was in the rehearsals too.

During the break, I love how Koyama said that they pick on him now they’ve become a group of 4 - cute! And Tegoshi was being a brat (but I love it, lol). And KY Massu for saying that the weather was clear (it had been raining) because he was there, and Shige scolding him a bit and saying, “why can’t you just say it’s because NEWS is here xD” lol
I missed seeing them being random like this. And it’s true, I don’t think there’s a role Tegoshi hasn’t played, he’s pretty versatile and seems like he’d be up to do anything if it was for the sake of entertainment. I like how Kei talked about how their roles have changed, especially with him being the leader. I think he was always the leader in a sense, but now he has to pay xD And I totally think he spoils the ‘kids;’ even though he complains they ‘throw random receipts’ at him, like Tegoshi said, “he’s DoM.” xD
I just watched the Documentary yesterday and I noticed that Tegoshi's almost like the second in command, not so much in that he takes charge (even though he does), but in the way he gets down to business. His idol!self has two sides -one where he's being a spoiled prince on stage, all cutesy and fun, but the other side is that he's very detail-oriented in how he sings the songs, the right intonation here, etc. and really working to make a good-quality piece that's unique. Koyama commented that Tegoshi's the mood maker and he really is, to the point that he's the one who greets the staff with a brief message, and even so far as doing the pre-concert 気合. I was surprised that Koyama didn't do it, but at the same time, Tegoshi has this energy about him that seems right for that moment.
And look, two paragraphs for him when he's my least favorite member xD Tells you how much he works his way into people's hearts, though I do admire his work ethic. We have a love/hate relationship (mostly one-sided, lol) xD
I have a lot of favorite songs, but Owaranai Natsu is probably my second most played next to Hoshi wo Mezashite and Ai Nante. I just love the message of the never-ending summer that we’re connected to, even when we’ve become ordinary adults, we can still see that dream and time so clearly. I think it speaks to how we’re growing up, but despite that, we can still enjoy the things we now consider childish, because that was a time when we were still searching (and I think we are always searching) for our better/shining selves.

I love the costume set, and I love how everyone is showing their abs except for Massu who I’m sure has a good set, but seems to be hiding his good physique under baggy clothing?
I think everyone’s final message was really sincere and I’m glad they did something like that. I’m sure the fans would’ve expected a word about the new NEWS anyways, since otherwise, it would be the elephant in the room.
Once again, I am really impressed by Tegoshi's message. I imagine him being a realist about things. Even though he plays the brat character and is not so serious in front of his, the way he delivered his message made me think that.
And of course, Koyama-ma, he rallies everyone and comments on their individual love and care for NEWS ♥
I also think everyone’s also careful to say that they, of course, still support Yamapi and Ryo, and hope everyone would do the same. I particularly liked that Massu mentioned the pressure to take on RyoPi’s lines. The fans were probably curious too, and I think they did a wonderful job. I’m very happy to hear more of Koyama and Shige’s voices :)
I would actually like to have more albums of their older songs with just 4!nin's voices, but maybe that's not honoring the old NEWS that we once held dear, so perhaps they won't. I know they do it out of necessity for concerts, but maybe there's a part of them that still cherishes the old songs as they were...
It was only appropriate that they ended with Full Swing and Tegoshi’s voice broke during the bridge *wibble* You could tell he was trying to hold it in. Sometimes, I forget that he’s the baby of the bunch, even though he’s the most spoiled xD And of course, Massu’s there to support him through this, without words ♥

I think I've added way too many ♥ in this entry, but what can you do? Was there ever any doubt that it was gonna be this way anyway? My love for NEWS is back in full swing ;)
