Hana Kimi 2011
Jul. 20th, 2011 11:29 pmOk, so here's my 5 cents on Hana Kimi 2011. Whether I like it or not, of course I'm going to be comparing this with the 2007 version. My brain can't help it, the original (not counting the manga) left a lasting impression on me. I really enjoyed it, mostly because it truly was ikemen paradise. It was fun and you didn't have to think. The actors have gone on to do more amazing things and rewatching it adds onto its awesomeness. So, it is my hope that when the 2011 one is over, I'll appreciate these new actors more and that this will act as a spring board for their careers. There are a bit more unknowns in this drama than previously, which might sway some people away, but it's not fair to doom this version based on casting or first impressions alone. Even though my brain will unconsciously compare the two versions, I would like to say that the comparison only goes so far. There are already vast differences in how the story is progressing (i.e cleaning up the school, reason why Sano stopped high-jumping, etc.). Kind of like how Korea adapted HYD into Boys Over Flowers; two unique entities that share the same characters, but not exactly the same plot points.
( Further thoughts... )
I'm really beginning to enjoy it due to the casting and curiosity in how this story will be executed. I'm not going to think too much about it; it's meant to be fun :)
